In today’s over-saturated market of influencers, brands are combing through hundreds of profiles to determine who they want to partner with. So how do you stand out amongst the competition to ensure you’re landing the ideal campaigns you feel fit your brand? Here are three key optimizations you can make to get you closer to your goal:
1. Increase Your Profile Visibility
What does your profile say about you at first glance? The answer to this is far more important than you may realize. First things first (this should probably go without saying) be sure to have your email contact in your bio… you can’t land a campaign if brands can’t get in contact with you! Beyond contact information, It’s up to you to ensure that anyone who lands on your page has a clear understanding of who you are and what your brand represents. We’re seeing more companies use tools to identify influencers on social media, so the language you use in your profile should be written very strategically. Choose key words that speak to your vertical of influence, whether that’s travel, lifestyle, beauty, food, fashion, etc. Furthermore, make sure your bio is a photo that includes your face so there is a human component. And finally? Make sure you’ve switched from a personal to a business profile to increase your credibility.
2. Pay Attention To Your Audience Insights
To expand upon our last point, there are more benefits to making your profile a business page rather than a personal one beyond simply appearing more credible. Both Instagram and Facebook offer valuable audience insights that make it easy to optimize your content. See what time of day your audience is most active and schedule your posts for then. Pay attention to what kind of content you share gets the most engagement and aim to create more of that. Furthermore, you can use this information to pitch yourself to brands that are looking to reach people in your top cities, countries and age range.
3. Prioritize Discoverability
Another surefire way to increase your chances of standing out is to take matters into your own hands to ensure eyeballs are landing on your page. But how does one do this? For starters, don’t underestimate the power of a hashtag. While certain ones can seem a bit desperate or too generic (stay away from clichés like #likeforlike or #followforfollow) think about ones that are authentic to your brand. State the kind of blogger that you are (i.e. #fashionblogger, #travelblogger, #mommyblogger etc.) You can also pay attention to trending hashtags within your area of influence. For example, #OOTD is a popular one amongst fashion influencers while #fitfam is commonly used in the fitness realm. Another way to increase your odds of being discovered? Be sure to always tag social profiles of other brands you’re originally mentioning when they’re available and be sure to use location tags in the majority of your posts.
There is much more that could be said about optimizing influencer content, but at the end of the day it comes down to making an effort to be strategic and thoughtful about everything that you put out there.
